Tottori Sand Dunes

I’m sure that it is hard to imagine that there are dunes in Japan. But, yes there are. The sand dunes are found on the seashore of Tottori, San’in region of Japan. Tottori Sand Dunes were made of the sands carried by the Sendai River from Chugoku region to the Sea of Japan. The dunes are not something new, they have been there for more than 100,000 years. There are even cammels in the dunes! But of course, the cammels are something new introduced for tourists. Anyway, Tottori Sand Dunes are one of the my favorite places to take pictures in Japan. This picture was also taken in Tottori Sand Dunes.

Many people think I brought these models there to take a set-up picture. Nope. This is 100% natural street photography.

I was in the dunes at dusk, walking around, taking pictures, and hoping to see a beautiful sunset on the Sea of Japan soon. Then I came across this scene. Actually, first I was trying to take a picture of a couple who were waiting for sunset (left on the picture). Then, two women appeared there (the third and fourth from left). Rather than staying there to take pictures of them, I decided to back off the scene and watch. Then from nowhere, a businessman appeared barefoot in his suit, talking on his cell phone, looking at the sun going down (the second from left). I moved quickly to find a good angle to put all these people in the frame. Then a girl who was totally indifferent to the beautiful sunset and lying down on the dunes came into my frame (right on the picture). Everything came together in front of me. All I had to do was  to move quickly to frame them well before the business man hanged up his mobile phone. After a few clicks, the boyfriend of the girl laying on dunes appeared, and everything started falling apart. Two women changed their positions, the couple sat down, and the business man hanged up his mobile phone. Then, the sun went down.
